Franklin Graham: Sanders Has Been “Called By God” To Serve As Governor, Senator
In a Saturday Facebook post, evangelical leader Franklin Graham wrote that former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was “called by God” to serve as a governor or U.S. senator, linking to a recent interview she gave to The New York Times.
During that interview, Sanders said “there are two types of people who run for office”: those include “People that are called and people that just want to be a senator or governor.”
“I feel like I’ve been called,” she added.
Though Sanders did not announce her intent to run in 2023, she gave every indication she will be a likely candidate in Arkansas’ gubernatorial race. “It’s the role I’ve been pushed into,” she told The Times. “I wouldn’t want to do that if I wasn’t the right person to fit what the state needed at that time.”
Sanders’ father, Mike Huckabee, served as the Arkansas governor from 1996 to 2007 and also ran for president twice.
Graham agreed with the former Trump administration official that some people are “called” while others simply hold a desire to run for public office.
“She’s so right,” he wrote. “We need more people like her who are called by God to serve in positions of leadership in our communities, states, and across our nation. God bless Sarah and all those who are willing to work to make our nation better.”
