Franklin Graham Cites Biblical Death Penalty For Gays While Discussing Buttigieg

Graham wrote a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday deriding Pete Buttigieg.

The CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and of Samaritan's Purse, Franklin Graham, in a Facebook post on Thursday didn't just criticize 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg—he cited a Bible verse that mandates the death penalty for homosexuality when discussing the openly gay mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

Responding to protestors chanting "Sodom and Gomorrah" at a rally in Iowa last week, Buttigieg said, "The condition of my soul is in the hands of God,” Friendly Atheist reports.

“Mayor Buttigieg is absolutely right — His soul is in the hands of God, so is everyone’s,” Graham wrote. “He also says that he’s a Christian and wants to become the first openly gay president in America’s history. What’s wrong with that picture? In reality, being a Christian isn’t just a title we select or a church membership. It is a faith in God and His Word that transforms our lives to be more like the One we follow — Jesus Christ.”

Graham continued, “Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). The Bible makes it very clear that homosexuality is a sin. ‘If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination…’ (Leviticus 20:13). That’s what God says and that settles it for me. I stand with the Word of God.”

But the entire Leviticus 20:13 verse, often cited by Christians arguing against homosexuality, is, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Did you know that there are 613 laws in Leviticus, and if you break one god will make you eat your children. That's what I call love!

The Old Testament isn't the law of JESUS! Stop trying to incorporate Sharia law into Christianity!
