Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov said there are "deep concerns" over Mike Pence leading the coronavirus response.

After President Donald Trump announced that Vice President Mike Pence would take the lead on the administration’s response to the coronavirus outbreak, Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov said Pence should not be “anywhere near” the efforts.

“There are deep concerns about putting Mike Pence at least quasi-in charge,” Tarlov said. “He oversaw an HIV outbreak in Indiana. Instead of going with science and dealing with needle exchanges, he went after Planned Parenthood and people got sick there because of it.”

“Mike Pence is not a scientist, he’s not a doctor, he’s not someone who believes really in science,” she continued. “And I don’t believe that he should be in charge of this of anywhere near the forefront and that is a big concern.”

Fox News host Ed Henry appeared to question why Tarlov would say Pence does not believe in science, to which she responded by suggesting the vice president puts more emphasis on prayer.

“Well, with climate science, he thinks you should pray on it,” Tarlov said. “If you have HIV, you should go to a doctor. If you have a Coronavirus, you should go to a doctor. And this isn’t about insulting prayer, it’s just saying that that kind of policy and that kind of thinking is outdated and has no place in modern society.”
