Fox News Knew Of Trump’s Payoff to Stormy Daniels But Wouldn’t Report It

Fox News reportedly spiked the story because Rupert Murdoch wanted Donald Trump to win the 2016 election.

Investigative journalist Jane Mayer published a piece in The New Yorker today suggesting that Fox News had evidence of Trump’s payoff to Stormy Daniels.

“Diana Falzone, who often covered the entertainment industry, had obtained proof that Trump had engaged in a sexual relationship in 2006 with a pornographic film actress calling herself Stormy Daniels,” writes Mayers. She says the former Fox News reporter even confirmed it with Gina Rodriguez, Daniels’ manager at the time, and Daniels’ former husband, Mike Moz. Falzone had collected emails that detailed a proposed cash settlement between the actress’s attorney and Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen as well as a nondisclosure agreement. “Falzone had even seen the contract,” Mayer writes.

But Fox never ran Falzone’s story. After “one noncommittal answer after another from her editors,” Falzone was reportedly contacted by Ken LaCorte, head of at the time, who reportedly told her: “Good reporting, kiddo. But Rupert [Murdoch] wants Donald Trump to win. So just let it go.” However, Mayer acknowledges that “LaCorte denies telling Falzone this, but one of Falzone’s colleagues confirms having heard her account at the time.”
