James and Kathryn Murdoch reportedly have donated more than $2 million to help elect Joe Biden and other Democrats.

Igor Derysh of Salon reported in July that Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch’s son and daughter-in-law have spent more than $2 million to help elect former Vice President Joe Biden and other Democrats in the upcoming election.

  • James Murdoch and his wife Kathryn Murdoch reportedly “each contributed $615,000 to the Biden Victory Fund in June, according to Federal Election Commission filings.”
  • Derysh noted that the fund “splits donations between Biden’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and 26 state parties.”
  • The couple also has contributed to other candidates seeking to push Republicans from office.
  • The Washington Post reported that Kathryn Murdoch is “increasingly giving to Democrats this cycle, including $1 million to help Senate Democrats.”

Derysh noted that James Murdoch has previously backed Democrats, including “former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg in the Democratic primary.”

The report also noted that James and Kathryn Murdoch are not the only relatives of the conservative media mogul to back candidates on the left: “Murdoch’s wife Jerry Hall sent a $500 check to Biden’s campaign in May after previously donating $1,000 to Buttigieg in the primary.”
