“There is evidence today of war crimes being committed, civilians being targeted and ISIS prisoners escaping” in northern Syria, Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst reported this week, following President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from the region.
Yingst said “much of what is happening” cannot be shown on U.S. cable news, because the images are far too graphic. “All of this, after the Trump administration made a decision to withdraw a group of American forces meant to deter such an invasion from occurring,” he said.
The journalist also noted the Defense Secretary Mark Esper has confirmed that a “full U.S. withdrawal from Syria is underway.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reported that 20 Kurdish villages are now under Turkish control.
