Fox Legal Analyst: Trump’s AG Is More Loyal To Trump Than The U.S. Constitution
Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano said during a segment on Fox Nation that President Donald Trump is in violation of his oath “to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution” and questioned whether Trump is fit for office.
According to RawStory, Napolitano listed numerous actions Trump has taken that are cause for concern: “In nearly three years in office, President Donald Trump has spent federal dollars not authorized by Congress; separated families and incarcerated children at the Texas-Mexico border in defiance of a federal court order; pulled 1,000 American troops out of Syria ignoring a commitment to allies and facilitated war against civilians there; and sent 2,000 American troops to Saudi Arabia without a congressional authorization or declaration of war.”
Further, Napolitano said Trump “criminally obstructed a Department of Justice investigation of himself,” only escaping prosecution “because of the intercession of an attorney general more loyal to him than to the Constitution. The Constitution!”
Napolitano also noted that Trump recently referred to a provision of the Constitution as “phony” — thereby implying “that he need not abide it nor enforce it, notwithstanding his oath.”
Trump’s lack of respect for the Constitution is not only “unusual,” Napolitano said, but “potentially dangerous.”
“Can the president of the United States lawfully enforce only the clauses of the Constitution with which he agrees and ignores those with which he disagrees?” Napolitano answered with a definitive, “No.”
