Fox Host Hints That Migrant Children Are Less Valuable Than American Ones

A Fox News host suggested on Friday that children from Latin American countries are less valuable than their U.S. peers.

A Fox News commentator suggested on Friday that children from Latin American countries are less valuable than their American counterparts after claiming that Democrats were unwilling to spend money to save people at the Southern border, according to a tweet by the Media Intelligence Director of Media Matters for America.

“People are dying trying to cross the border, Trump's trying to get Mexico to do something about it. You have Dems saying, 'This is too expensive. We don't want to lose money over the fact that people are dying,” said Fox News Host Melissa Francis.

"Democrats have maintained [tariffs] would be too expensive ... what dollar sign do you put on the lives of children. I understand they're children from other countries, nonetheless, they are children," added panelist Julie Banderas.

The statements came hours before President Trump announced Mexico would expand a program that sends asylum-seeking migrants from the U.S. to Mexico, in a bid to avoid a 5 percent tariff on all of its products.

“Mexico was not being cooperative on the Border in things we had or didn’t have, and now I have full confidence, especially after speaking to their President yesterday, that they will be very cooperative and want to get the job properly done,” Trump said on Twitter.
