Fauci Tells Congress The US Could See 100,000 New Cases Daily

Dr. Anthony Fauci warned lawmakers today that the US could see 100,000 new cases a day soon.

Dr. Anthony Fauci was particularly dismayed at the amount of people not wearing masks as well as those who have been congregating in large groups. He warned lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the crisis must still be taken seriously and that the US is certainly not past the pandemic. The US broke its record for new daily cases at over 40,000 last week.

"Fauci indicated that he would support an effort to increase the production of high-quality masks in the US and distribute them free of charge to the American public in response to a question from Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders", CNN reports.

Experts also testified on the developments surrounding creating a coronavirus vaccine. Dr. Stephen Hahn, commissioner of the FDA, outlined the steps that the FDA is taking in order to speed up the effort to produce a vaccine. Fauci also discussed his intention to further increase the testing capacity of the US.

"More than half of all states are seeing a rise in cases, and Florida, Texas and Arizona are getting hit particularly hard. Texas has begun scaling back its reopening, and beaches in Florida have closed for the upcoming holiday weekend."
