Ex-DCI: Trump's Fear Of The Russia Investigation Is Well Deserved

John Brennan is the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency under President Obama.

Former CIA Director John Brennan minced no words in his reply to President Donald Trump's Tuesday tweet that he had been "much tougher on Russia" than President Barack Obama, saying:

It never ceases to amaze me how successful you have been making yourself so small, petty, and banal with your tweets. Your insecurity is well deserved, as is your concern over Russia investigation. Thomas Paine was right when he said, "These are the times that try men's souls."

Trump has been tweeting about the probes into Russia's election interference since special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian individuals and three groups on Friday for charges related to meddling in the 2016 election.

He sent out a series of tweets over the weekend about the probes, questioning why Obama hadn’t done more to address the Russian election interference.

Though Trump has accused Obama of failing to address the Russian meddling situation, the president himself opted against implementing new sanctions against Russia that were recommended nearly unanimously by Congress.

In defense of that decision, the Trump administration said the mere threat of sanctions was serving adequately as a "deterrent".
