Ex-CIA Director Expresses Revulsion At Trump's Attacks On The Media

General Michael Hayden said he has "wasted 40 years" of his life if this is what the country is becoming.

Former CIA director Michael Hayden took to Twitter over the weekend to lament the state of American politics following yet another President Trump tweet attacking the press - one in which he claimed Fox News is "MUCH more important" to the U.S. than CNN.

“If this is who we are or who we are becoming, I have wasted 40 years of my life,” the former spy chief, who now works as a national security analyst for the broadcaster, said in a Twitter post.

General Hayden, also a former director of the Nation Surveillance Agency, continued:

"Until now it was not possible for me to conceive of an American President capable of such an outrageous assault on truth, a free press or the first amendment."
