Eric Trump, the president's son, told Sean Hannity that he wants his father to declare the border a national emergency.

On Tuesday, Eric Trump said that he wanted his father to declare a national emergency in order to move forward with building the wall, according to The Hill.

During his appearance on Fox News’s “Hannity” he said, “I want him to declare an emergency."

Host Sean Hannity responded, “Oh, I think he will.”

Trump added that his father should declare the emergency to “build the wall with the United States military because that’s what people in the country want.”

The president has threatened to declare a national emergency to build the wall if Congress won’t fund it. It is likely, according to lawmakers, that declaring a national emergency would prompt legal challenges.

Trump’s threat comes at the end of a 35-day government shutdown that resulted from his refusal to sign a bill to fund the government without $5.7 billion to fund a border wall.

Trump said that if Congress does not approve funding for the wall in the next three weeks, he will declare a national emergency.
