DUE TO HATEFUL MEMES, HARVARD RESCINDS OFFERS TO AT LEAST 10 INCOMING FRESHMEN

Harvard University rescinded the acceptance letters of at least ten incoming freshmen due to promoting racist and sexist memes in a private Facebook chat.

According to The Harvard Crimson:

“In the group, students sent each other memes and other images mocking sexual assault, the Holocaust, and the deaths of children, according to screenshots of the chat obtained by The Crimson. Some of the messages joked that abusing children was sexually arousing, while others had punchlines directed at specific ethnic or racial groups. One called the hypothetical hanging of a Mexican child ‘piñata time.'”

After discovering the existence and content of the chat, Harvard administrators revoked admissions to some members of the group. Harvard University has said this decision in final.

The chat group grew out of an attempt by incoming Freshman to bond with others starting at the University. It eventually turned dark, causing Harvard University officials to contact the students in Mid-April in order to rescind their acceptance letters.
