Political commentators Diamond & Silk claim that Biden's VP pick Kamala Harris is not Black

During an appearance on WMAL's Mornings on the Mall, conservative video bloggers and political commentators Diamond & Silk claimed that Kamala Harris “is not even Black,” according to Media Matters.

  • The pair railed into Joe Biden’s vice presidential pick, questioning her identity and her desire to work with Biden after having previously criticized him during the primaries.
  • Silk insinuated that the pick was a result of affirmative action:

“It's a sad day in America when you have to pick somebody as vice president based off of affirmative action.”

  • Silk also went on to claim that Harris was not black:

“But see you have got to understand something about Kamala Harris. Kamala is not even Black. So you know when she talks about racism, that's why she don't care about it. She's not even Black.”

Who has the privilege of defining what anyone else is or isn't? Historically, it has been slave owners.

How can these two women oppose racism if they assume it is acceptable for anyone to discriminate against others based upon who/what they themselves determine other people are? Is assuming that kind ownership of other people okay with them as long as they are the ones determining who is what?

Isn't the soul of opposition to racism about NOT allowing people to determine what/who others are, BECAUSE PEOPLE BELONG TO THEMSELVES?

Do these ladies agree with that statement, or do they think people, for example Kamala Harris, don't belong to themselves and that they, Diamond and Silk, are the ones who define her and anyone else as they choose?

If the principle that people belong to themselves and, therefore, have the rights of SELF-determination does not apply, how are we to work together for social and economic justice?

This is some ignorance right here, and towards their Black brothers and sisters too. Sounds like they've been brainwashed. Sad. They experience the same racial profiling, subtle racism and flat out racism as any other POC does.
