D’Souza: Blue States Have Insulted Trump For Years And Now They Expect His Help?

Far-right conspiracy theorist Dinesh D’Souza told Fox News on Wednesday that the coronavirus outbreaks are mostly in blue states that have long insulted President Donald Trump, suggesting those governors have nerve now asking Trump for help.
According to Media Matters, D’Souza told host Laura Ingraham, “And also remember that a few weeks ago, Jennifer Rubin, the Never Trumper, and others were all putting out the idea that there was so much misinformation being put out by the president, and by Fox News, that we would see spreads of the coronavirus in the red states — Republicans would die. But in fact, interestingly, these spreads are mainly in the blue states.”
“And what I find kind of interesting,” he continued, “is you have these blue state governors and mayors, and they are trying — they're criticizing Trump, but they also have the outstretched hand. They want Trump to intervene.”
“The same guy that they've been calling a racist and a fascist for four years, and now they want the racist and the fascist to step in and help them out. You'd think that if a racist and fascist was the guy they needed, they'd prefer to go it alone.” D’Souza said.
Regardless of which states Americans live in and whether those states are led by Democratic or Republican governors, Trump is the president of them all — with the duty to protect every American citizen.
D’Souza’s suggestion that governors cannot simultaneously criticize the president while expecting him to fulfill his duties of office is absurd, and it is unlikely he presented the same position during President Obama’s tenure, when Republican-controlled states came for help during natural disasters, despite having lobbed their own criticisms at the president.
