Convicted Felon Roger Stone: “I’ve Taken Jesus Christ As My Personal Savior”
Political consultant and self-described “dirty trickster” Roger Stone has found Jesus, he said during his first post-conviction interview this week.
Friendly Atheist reported that Stone, who is a longtime friend and confidant of President Donald Trump, told Axios reporter Mike Allen that he has no fear of what the future holds, now that he has found his way spiritually.
Stone faces 40 months in prison after being convicted of obstruction, witness tampering, and lying to Congress last year.
“The only fear I have is not being right with God,” Stone said. “I feel pretty good because I’ve taken Jesus Christ as my personal savior. And it’s given me enormous strength and solace, because He knows what’s in my heart.”
It’s unlikely that many will buy Stone’s redemption story, and for good reason. He also told Americans that Trump was “steadfast in his faith,” claiming that the president is a changed man from whatever type of sinner he might have been in the past.
“Christians believe deeply in redemption and they believe in evolution,” Stone said. “It’s not whether you’ve sinned– we’ve all sinned. It’s not mistakes you made 15 years ago or 20 years ago or last year. It’s what’s in your heart today. I think Trump has been forgiven anything he did wrong. I think we all have and I think he’s a different person.”
