Congresswoman: Matt Gaetz Should Be "Referred For Criminal Prosecution”

Rep. Stacey Plaskett said "at the very least there should be a referral to the ethics committee" for Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands), a former federal prosecutor and former counsel on House ethics, assessed Rep. Matt Gaetz’s Tuesday tweet appearing to threaten Michael Cohen during Cohen's appearance before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.

In a now-deleted tweet, Gaetz wrote, “Hey @MichaelCohen212, do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot..."

Plaskett said, “I think at the very least there should be a referral to the ethics committee of witness intimidation and tampering.”

She added that he could also be referred for a criminal prosecution.
