Among the 18 trademarks granted by China to Trump-linked companies in recent months was one for voting machines.

Companies linked to President Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka were granted 18 new trademarks by China in the past two months, according to the Daily Beast — a batch that apparently included voting machines.

> Sixteen of the new trademarks were granted to to Ivanka Trump Marks LLC, which cover Ivanka-branded fashion gear such as sunglasses, handbags, shoes, and jewelry. Two more trademarks were given to DTTM Operations LLC, based at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York, covering branded restaurant, bar, and hotel services.

The Daily Beast said it was unclear why they wanted to trademark voting machines in China but noted that it is not uncommon for applications to include items that companies do not intend to bring to market.
