As Thousands Die Daily, Trump Brags That His Ratings Are “Through The Roof”

Seemingly oblivious to the rising COVID-19 death toll, President Trump bragged about his ratings on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump found time on Wednesday to boast about the television ratings he is getting for the daily White House coronavirus task force briefings, seemingly oblivious to the rising death toll in the U.S. and around the world.

As Trump bragged about getting great ratings, more than 14,000 Americans have now died from COVID-19, and more than 400,000 have tested positive for the virus. Globally, nearly 1.5 million people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and it has cost more than 87,000 lives.

But the president does not like to be upstaged, not even by a pandemic.

He complained on Wednesday that Democrats do not appreciate his daily press briefings, which many people inside and outside the media have noted are a platform for Trump to disseminate misinformation, and have tried to get news networks to stop carrying them.

“The Radical Left Democrats have gone absolutely crazy that I am doing daily Presidential News Conferences,” he wrote on Twitter. “They actually want me to STOP! They used to complain that I am not doing enough of them, now they complain that I ‘shouldn’t be allowed to do them.’”

Trump said his political opponents “tried to shame the Fake News Media into not covering them, but that effort failed because the ratings are through the roof according to, of all sources, the Failing New York Times.”

He went on to claim his briefings are getting “Monday Night Football, Bachelor Finale” type ratings and lamented that the networks are getting it for “$FREE”.
