The former sheriff said Sen. Jeff Flake's words could be construed as a "treason type situation".

Following Senator Jeff Flake's (R-AR) brutal speech on the Senate floor Wednesday, wherein he compared President Donald Trump's language to that used by Josef Stalin, former Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the congressman might have committed treason.

"I don't know if Sen. Flake should make some comments against our commander in chief, I'm not saying, it could be considered by some a borderline treason type situation," Arpaio said Wednesday morning.

When asked if Flake and the public have the right to call out their government as well as their president, Arpaio responded by saying, "within reason."

Arpaio is currently in the running for U.S. Senate in Arizona, vying with two others for the Republican nomination.
