An Anti-Vaxxer Asks How To Protect Their Children From Measles

A woman with an unvaccinated child questioned how to keep her child safe from the disease.

An outbreak of measles is currently taking place in Washington with 37 cases in 2019 alone and has left the state in a state of emergency. Cases of the highly contagious disease have also appeared in New York and Atlanta.

According to Market Watch, the disease is largely affecting children who have not been vaccinated and is causing immense worry amongst parents. One woman who does not believe in vaccinations posted on Facebook asking how she could protect her unvaccinated child from the disease. The message caused a great backlash on the internet as the debate on vaccinations is often contested as leaving children unvaccinated puts them at great risk.

Jake Tapper of CNN described the anti-vaxxers as being influenced by lies “peddled by people who do not know what they are talking about.”

Measles was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000 due to the increased popularity of immunizations in children.
