AG Barr Says Trump’s Reaction To Coronavirus Has Been “Statesman Like”

“I think the president went out at the beginning of this thing and really was statesmanlike."

Attorney General William Barr sat for an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham this week and claimed that President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus crisis was “statesmanlike” and unifying.

“I think the president went out at the beginning of this thing and really was statesmanlike,” he said, adding that Trump was “trying to bring people together, working with all the governors, [and] keeping his patience as he got these snarky ‘gotcha’ questions from the White House media pool.”

Barr made no mention that the president had previously spent weeks downplaying the coronavirus in public, nor the partisan attacks Trump continued to lob, even as it became more clear that serious trouble was brewing.

But the attorney general, who has been criticized for appearing to bend the Justice Department to the president’s will, complained that Democrats have used the public health crisis to continue attacks against Trump.

“The stridency of the partisan attacks on him has gotten higher and higher, and it’s really disappointing to see,” Barr said.

He pointed to the “politicization of decisions like hydroxychloroquine,” which Barr said was treated fairly by the media before Trump spoke “positively” about it.

Now the media is on a “jihad” to discredit the drug, Barr said with a smirk, adding that it is “quite strange.”

But Trump did not merely speak positively about the anti-malaria medication. In fact, he has pushed the drug as a borderline “miracle” cure for COVID-19, when the drug has not been shown conclusively to effectively treat the disease.

207 days till we vote the corrupt crooked insane GOP out. Every single one. Then we can start working to make our country better and get rid of all of trump's damage. Kill his Tax Theft Bill, restore EPA and all agencies trump has damaged. Fix our health care and climate change.
If you care, vote Blue. Trump has promised to cut or kill SS, Medicare and Medicaid. Think before you vote.

"Statesman like" utter rubbish of course but this is the WH playbook.....simply assert the polar opposite. Barr is one of the most egregious enablers and as AG an extraordinarily dangerous man. He deserves a very bad fate.
