Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross will not meet with his counterpart in the UK after his planned Brexit trade talks with Liam Fox were abruptly called off, according to The Independent.
Though the Trump administration did not offer an explanation for the last minute change in plans and said the meeting would be rescheduled, the move came as memos from a UK diplomat were leaked to the public, in which Kim Darroch called President Donald Trump "incompetent", "inept", and "insecure".
Trump responded to the news as expected, calling Darroch “a very stupid guy” and attacking British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Jeremy Hunt, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, said in a Twitter post that he would keep Darroch in the same post, should he be chosen as the next prime minister.
"Friends speak frankly so I will: these comments are disrespectful and wrong to our Prime Minister and my country,” he wrote.
"Allies need to treat each other with respect as [Ms May] has always done with you. Ambassadors are appointed by the UK government and if I become PM our Ambassador stays.”
