Uber and DoorDash Raise California Prices to Compensate for New Employee Perks
In California, Uber Technologies raised its prices today with DoorDash doing the same in the near future, according to California News-Times.
Additional benefits for drivers was voted into effect by California voters last month. The companies are adding an additional fee to compensate for these increased benefits that depend on the city and type of service. For example, food delivery in Los Angeles increased by 99 cents. In San Francisco, each food delivery fee increased by $2.
The additional benefits included health care subsidies and other perks included in the passing of Proposal 22. DoorDash plans to raise its prices starting Wednesday, but only slightly. Instacart Inc. and Lyft Inc. stated that they did not plan to raise prices just yet, but did not clarify if their stance would change in the future.
