Here are the main market catalysts and closing values for the major US indexes on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite all fell on Tuesday after President Trump tweeted that no stimulus deal would be made.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 375.88 points, or 1.34 percent, to close at 27,772.76.
  • The S&P 500 fell 1.40 percent to close at 3,360.95.
  • The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.57 percent to close at 11,154.60.

Stocks started the session higher with the Dow up around 200 points. In the late afternoon, President Donald Trump tweeted: "I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business."

Stocks tumbled following the remarks from the President with the Dow falling 600 points and all major indexes ending far in the red for the session.
