Here are the main market catalysts and closing values for the major US indexes on Thursday, August 6, 2020.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and the Nasdaq Composite all gained on Thursday, according to CNBC.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 185.46 points, or 0.70 percent, to close at 27,386.98.
  • The S&P 500 gained 0.60 percent to close at 3,3349.16.
  • The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.00 percent to close at 11,108.07.

The Nasdaq outperformed yet again. Shares of Facebook posted gains of 6.5 percent. Apple shares rose 3.5 percent. Netflix, Alphabet, and Microsoft also posted gains greater than 1 percent. These gains pushed the Nasdaq to an all-time high above 11,000.

Equities didn't pick up steam until later in the session. Investors have been watching lawmakers as they debate over another stimulus bill.

Tomorrow, the July jobs report is set to be released.
