Luminar Technologies is a startup that develops laser sensors for self-driving cars.
Prescott had been Tesla's general counsel since 2019 and will now take on the role of general counsel at Luminar. Prescott has had other experiences with autonomous vehicles. Before his four years at Tesla, he was with Ford for almost 10 years and served as senior counsel for Uber's autonomous driving division.
Luminar's self-driving sensors have been used in Volvo and Toyota vehicles with autonomous capabilities.
