Tesla has benefited from the stimulus, but Musk opposed more of it.

Tesla revealed Tuesday that it received benefits from a government coronavirus aid package, while just four days ago, CEO Elon Musk said he’s against the United States passing a second stimulus package, according to Business Insider.

Tesla stated in a quarterly filing that “as part of various governmental responses to the pandemic granted to companies globally, we received certain payroll related benefits which helped to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our financial results.”

On July 24, Musk opposed the concept of another stimulus package on Twitter, saying, “Another government stimulus package is not in the best interests of the people imo. According to the Los Angeles Times, Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX have benefited from government aid for about $5 billion. It’s not the first time Tesla has received government assistance decried by Musk.

Senate Republicans have released a $1 trillion stimulus package Monday designed to further support those impacted by the pandemic, including “provisions for another round of stimulus payments, an extended unemployment surplus, and $60 billion for small-business loans.”
