On Thursday, space venture Blue Origin released a video stating that tickets for space tourism will be sold soon, according to CNBC.
Blue Origin is Jeff Bezos' space venture company and where he has been shifting his focus since stepping down as Amazon CEO. The space tour rocket is called New Shepard. The video depicts Bezos driving to meet the rocket after it lands. “Guys, how exciting is this – come on!” he said in the video.
Blue Origin did not give any insight into how much tickets for New Shepard would cost, but said more details would be released on May 5. “Sign up to learn how you can buy the very first seat on New Shepard,” according to the company’s website.
New Shepard is capable of carrying six people into space. Previous capsules reached an altitude of more than 340,000 feet. New Shepard spends as much as 10 minutes in zero gravity before returning to Earth.
Competitor Virgin Galatic saw its shares fall 3 percent following the release of Blue Origin's video.
