According to data released from the Small Business Administration, the Church of Scientology was among the recipients of loans from the Paycheck Protection Program.
The Independent reported that “Church of Scientology locations in New York, Washington DC and Florida were also cleared to receive loans between $150,000 (£120,000) and $350,000 (£278,000) each.”
The Church of Scientology “is reported to be worth at least $1 billion,” the publication noted.
The SBA program was passed in March in an effort to help sustain America’s small business as the coronavirus pandemic began wrecking the economy.
