On Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that progress is being made on the next coronavirus stimulus bill, according to CNBC.

"We're making progress," Pelosi said, adding that she hoped Republicans would "agree on what we need to do to crush the virus." She also called for the US airline industry to postpone job cuts.

In a public statement to airline executives, she urged them to hold off on job cuts. She stated, "don't fire people. You know that relief is on the way." Pelosi mentioned that airline workers must go through strenuous recertification processes to get security clearance when they are fired.

She believes Congress will either pass Representative Peter DeFazio's legislation regarding airline assistance or secure relief through a more holistic bill negotiated on Capitol Hill. The federal Payroll Support Program passed by Congress in March expired on Thursday.
