Minimum Income Receiving Strong Support From Democrats

Democrats are starting to support a minimum basic income after Andrew Yang's proposed $1,000 monthly income gains traction, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Yang coined his $1000 monthly income the "freedom dividend." No other candidate has backed the freedom dividend proposal, but more talks of policies for basic income have drawn backing from other Democratic presidential candidates.

Democratic candidates would pay for this basic income by reversing many of the tax cuts delivered by President Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. All five senators running for president have supported proposals that would guarantee payment for parents.

Senator Bernie Sanders also supports a plan to give all Americans making less than $50,000 an annual tax-free check worth up to $3000, along with increasing the minimum wage.

Andrew Yang's proposal for a $1,000 monthly income has received support from other Democrats running for president.
