Mall Retailers Close During The Coronavirus Outbreak
A range of mall retailers have recently announced that while they temporarily close, they will provide compensation to those workers who have to stay at home. The list of retailers include Lululemon, Under Armour, Urban Outfitters, Hollister and Lush Cosmetics.
Even though mall retailers are closing down, different retailers that sell food and medicines will not close down. Walmart has committed to staying open during the pandemic and restocking needed items. However, during the evening they will close and focus efforts on disinfecting surfaces and restocking items. Kroger and Publix are following similar practices.
“We’re all committed to making sure we’re keeping our stores open to serve the American consumer who’s rapidly stocking up on household essentials,“ Target Inc. Chief Executive Brian Cornell said.
Not all chains are completely closing down. Starbucks is closing some stores on campuses and in malls but are reducing hours for other high-volume locations. However, only to-go orders will be completed at all Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada.
