68 locations, in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas are expected to open this coming Monday, according to The Real Deal. Different measures will be put in place in order to maintain the safety of employees and customers.
Plexiglass barriers will be put up at cash registers and hand sanitizer will be accessible throughout stores. Additionally, employees will be provided personal protective equipment, such as masks and, in some locations, gloves. Clothes that are tried on by customers will be set aside for 24 hours before being put back on racks.
On March 18th, Macy’s had closed all of its locations and furloughed most of its works. In addition, the retailer had frozen its dividend and froze hiring. While locations were closed, Macy’s site was still operating and online sales during April had exceeded expectations.
