Google Closes On $2.4 Billion Acquisition
Google Cloud closed its $2.4 billion acquisition of Looker and is hungry for more, according to Business Insider.
Looker is a data analytics company and became the biggest acquisition by CEO Thomas Kurian. Recently, Kurian spoke at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco where he affirmed the necessity of acquisitions in today's business atmosphere.
"We look at our ability to expand our reach through complementary products in the market segments we're in, and one of the benefits of scaling our direct and indirect distribution is when we acquire something, we now have a much more scaled distribution channel through which to inject the technology into market, thereby allowing us to accelerate things," he said.
Google's acquisition of Looker is an attempt to integrate data analytics software into multiple cloud services. The acquisition also shows competitors Amazon and Microsoft that Google is still in the game.
