The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and the Nasdaq Composite gained on Friday, according to CNBC.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 114.67 points, or 0.44 percent, to close at 26,428.32.
  • The S&P 500 gained 0.77 percent to close at 3,271.12.
  • The Nasdaq Composite surged 1.49 percent to close at 10,745.27.

Financial markets wrapped up July with decent gains. The Dow gained 2.38 percent this month, the S&P 500 gained 5.51 percent, and the Nasdaq surged 6.82 percent. Four of the largest American tech companies reported earnings, crushing Wall Street's expectations. Shares of Apple surged 10.47 percent, Facebook surged 8.17 percent, Amazon gained 3.70 percent, but Alphabet fell 3.28 percent.

Today, the $600 weekly federal unemployment benefit expired and lawmakers aren't close to a new deal. White House Chief of staff Mark Meadows announced that Democratic leadership has rejected four offers.

Clorox and Virgin Galatic are up next to report earnings.
