Fox’s Laura Ingraham: No Bailouts For States Run By “Lockdown Liberals”
Fox News host Laura Ingraham said on Tuesday that states led by “lockdown liberals” should be excluded from receiving federal funds during the coronavirus pandemic, arguing that those leaders are only making economic recovery more difficult.
Ingraham started off by touting states run by conservative governors, saying life is beginning to return to normal as businesses reopen.
She then moved on to discuss Democratic governors who have been slower to reopen their local economies, telling viewers not to buy their excuse that they are concerned with public safety: “They always say that when they’re taking away your constitutional rights.”
“None of these lockdown liberals should get a penny more in bailout money so long as they continue this lockdown stuff,” Ingraham said. “Because the longer they stay locked down and you have all these other onerous and unnecessary restrictions in place, the more difficult, the more expensive, and I’d say the more dangerous it becomes for their states — the longer any kind of recovery will be.”
She asserted that COVID-19 is “a lot less deadly than originally thought” and that the virus is “most dangerous to the confined elderly.”
Therefore, Ingraham argued, “there’s no good reason to keep any part of the country completely closed.”
She then suggested that Democrats are motivated by a desire to see Trump fail: “Unless, that is, you don’t want America to recover at least while Trump is president.”
