Draft Of Brexit Proposal Currently Being Finalized

As the October 31st deadline looms closer, final efforts at a Brexit deal are being pursued.

There is word that the U.K. and the European Union are making progress towards a Brexit deal before the October 31st deadline.

Those familiar with the talks believed that a deal could be proposed as soon as Wednesday morning. Meeting that deadline would also mean that it could be looked over and signed by EU leaders at a meeting occurring later this week. Talks were expected to go throughout the entire evening.

As the draft of this proposal reaches its final stages, others warn that there could be political setbacks that delay the draft. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has emphasized that he plans on removing the U.K. from the EU bloc with or without a deal. However, there has been some optimism from Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

“initial indications are that we are making progress, that the negotiations are moving in the right direction. But whether we’ll be able to conclude a revised withdrawal agreement…in time for the summit on Thursday, that’s as of right now unclear,” Varadkar said.

Michael Barnier, the EU chief negotiator, relayed the same news to a meeting of government ministers in Luxembourg. The pound increased by 1% as optimism rose in regard to a Brexit deal.
