Biden Administration Hopes to Lift COVID Travel Restrictions by Mid-May

Sources in the Biden administration released details showing a path to lifting COVID restrictions in mid-May.

This would allow Americans to travel across the border to Canada and Mexico with fewer restrictions. International travel to the UK, Europe, and Brazil would also be less restricted according to the sources.

Biden has made no mention of a traditional time frame for a return to normalcy. The administration's public statements have focused on containing the spread of COVID variants domestically.

“There is going to be a sea change in mid-May when vaccines are more widely available to everyone,” said a senior administration official.

The Department of Homeland Security recently announced a one-month extension of land crossings between Canada and Mexico until April 21.
