Beyond The Bad Coronavirus Numbers Lie The Good Ones, Every Bit As Powerful

As technology allows us to visualize the gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic, that same technology will help us beat it.

With 20,000 new US COVID-19 cases being identified in merely a day, it is easy to get swept up in the growing negativity within the country, but the sources that provide heart-breaking statistics are the same ones that will save us, according to The Washington Post. Certain grave mistakes of the past, such as Florida not shutting down packed beaches, cannot be undone, but instead learned from. Fauci predicts the deaths of 100,000 Americans following correct quarantine and national safety procedures. Birx claims less than 200,000 Americans will die if things are done “almost perfectly.” Yet, it is imperative to understand that the powerful tools scientists use to calculate such predictions, are just as important in finding a cure. Technology that is able to track, analyze, and predict the spread and impact of COVID-19 is the same technology that powers genetic sequencing and artificial intelligence. Now scientists are able to make life-changing discoveries on portable devices like Ipads. With tools and data that are able to predict the next steps of the virus, soon we will be one step ahead.
