Amazon Workers Test Positive for COVID-19 in 10 Different Warehouses
Amazon has 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across 10 of its warehouses globally, according to Business Insider.
However, the company has not ceased operations. Amazon has actually added workers as the growing demand for online services and delivery has drastically increased. The locations of the warehouse infections are in New York, Florida, Kentucky, Texas, Michigan, Connecticut, and Oklahoma.
Unions and workers-rights groups have been pressing Amazon to temporarily close their facilities and preventing the spread of the disease. Warehouses in European countries, Spain and Italy, have also confirmed cases. The company refused to close the warehouses and Italian workers went on strike.
Amazon has altered its warehouse policies. Increased cleanings of facilities, a 3-foot distance rule, security checks being temporarily removed, and putting out hand sanitizer are some of the main changes being made to warehouses.
