The fifth edition of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program just welcomed twenty new startups, according to Techpoint Africa.

Once known as the Google Launchpad Accelerator, the program began in 2017 and has worked with 47 startups from 17 African countries. With its fifth cohort, the program is overseeing a complete change in operations.

First, the program will be conducted online as participants take part remotely. Second, this year 8 more startups will join the roster, with 20 total joining the program’s run from June 29 to September 11.

A one-week virtual boot camp will take place every month July through September. This year’s startups specialize in logistics, transportation, education, agriculture, e-commerce, media, health, and professional services. 8 startups come from Nigeria, 6 from Kenya, 2 from South Africa, and 1 each from Ghana, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia.
