The coronavirus pandemic is God’s punishment on humanity for turning away from him, evangelist Franklin Graham said during a Fox News appearance over the weekend.
According to the Friendly Atheist, Graham was responding to host Jeanine Pirro’s question of why God would allow such suffering to take place.
“Well, I don’t think it’s God’s plan for this to happen. It’s because of the sin that’s in the world,” he said. “Man has turned his back on God, we have sinned against him, and we need to ask for God’s forgiveness and that’s what Easter’s all about.”
Graham used the opportunity to share some of the gospel, reciting John 3:16: “It’s about God so-loving the world that he gave his only begotten son.”
If people put their trust and faith in Jesus Christ, Graham said, he will “forgive our sins, and he’ll heal our hearts, and he’ll change the course of our lives.”
“And this pandemic,” he continued, “is the result of a fallen world. A world that has turned its back on God. I would encourage people to pray, and let’s ask God for help.”
Thousands of Americans have already died — tens of thousands have died across the globe — and as usual, Graham is content to blame the world for not being Christian enough.
And as the Friendly Atheist noted: "Keep in mind that some of the least religious countries in the world also have the finest health care systems, and because they’ve been listening to scientists and pandemic experts instead of lying Republicans, they’ve been able to flatten their curves far more and far more quickly than we have."
