Evangelicals Are Optimistic That Trump Will Bring About The Apocalypse

Evangelicals are hoping that President Donald Trump brings about the apocalypse.

Evangelicals are hoping that President Donald Trump brings about the apocalypse. According to Newsweek, many see God using Trump to destroy the world and bring about a time where Jesus rules the world. For this reason, many evangelicals are willing to turn a blind eye to his revolting, thuggish, and piggish ways.

Via Newsweek:

> Many evangelical Christians believe that Trump was chosen by God to usher in a new era, a part of history called the “end times.” Beliefs about this time period differ, but it is broadly considered the end of the world, the time when Jesus returns to Earth and judges all people.

Evangelicals believe Trump chose God to be President through the electoral college.

> “For his evangelical supporters, there's a sense that Trump's unlikely election to the presidency proves that he has been chosen by God,” Young told Newsweek. “He shouldn't have won the election, so the thinking goes, so the fact that he did—and that victory came only via the Electoral College, no less—just demonstrates that only God could make it happen.”

Evangelicals really, really, want Jews to become Christians.

> “Evangelicals view themselves as sympathetic to Israel, but the underlying belief is motivated by a desire to see the Jewish people ‘turn to Jesus,'” Blake Chastain, a former evangelical who hosts a podcast on evangelicalism, told Newsweek

First of all we should all be concerned when someone (in this case John Zambis) claims to know what a large group of people believe. I'm an evangelical and I don't agree or hold to anything he has written describing "us." I've not even heard such preposterous views and I'm an elder in a very typical "evangelical" church. It is simply nonsense to make the claims he is suggesting and it is part of what ails America right now--the excessive habit of labeling and demeaning people.

Second, rather than cite Newsweek, which also has no credibility for speaking for evangelicals and accusing evangelicals of hoping Trump will help usher in the apocalypse, John might consider the following: 1). No right-thinking person who loves Jesus would wish for the apocalypse under any circumstances because of the cost and judgment it will usher in by God. Rather, the hope is for the return of Jesus who will bring an end to sin and suffering. 2). If Evangelicals voted for Trump (not all did), it was for many the better of two poor choices. To vote for Hillary Clinton was unthinkable because of her policies and record. Her progressive views clearly were antithetical to what many believe are vitally important--protecting our Constitution, our borders, and our freedoms which increasingly have become threatened by bureaucratic overreach by way of regulations.

Third, it is really tiresome and poor reasoning to continually attempt to pit one group of people against another without the ability to have a reasonable discussion. John would be better served to ask what evangelicals think than to suppose he already knows. Most of us work hard to love our neighbors. To do good to those with whom we disagree. What we don't agree with is the usage of violence and aggressive tactics of speech that lacks all civility; the labeling and name calling that is both superficial and rude.

Thanks for providing an opportunity to speak up!

I must be reading a different Bible than the evangelicals. Nowhere in my Good Book does my Lord, Jesus, say he needs help ushering in the end times.

Many baby Christians don't understand the Gospel are acting like goats, not sheep ( Matthew 25:31-46 ). Two-thirds of the people will be destroyed in the fire that's coming with Jesus Christ and his mighty angels ( Zechariah 13:8-9 and 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 ). Amen

The true church that's spiritual and one with God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Ghost must pray for religious and political leaders to be Converted as Nicodemus ( John 3:1-8 ) and Zaccheaus ( Luke 19:1-8 ).Amen
