Eminent domain as a crime-fighting tool

According to the latest edition of The Toll gun violence solutions newsletter from the Indy Star, Indianapolis may expand the use of eminent domain actions as part of the city's effort to reduce crime and violence on the far east side:

"The city already has acquired more than 70 units there without the courts, largely by taking possession of homes after no one bids for them at tax sales. But last week's lawsuit to pursue Oak Tree through a lawsuit signals that Indianapolis is ready to use eminent domain, where possible, to eliminate nuisance properties."
