Apparently, Twitter has been guessing people's genders based on their account interactions in order to deliver more targeted ads. Of course, this makes perfect sense for Twitter to do as a business, and the assigned gender is only for Twitter's internal system and is not displayed on your public profile, but - you guessed it! - some people are furious. According to Buzzfeed, being assigned a gender identity for the purpose of advertising can be "jarring and upsetting."

That's right. "Jarring and upsetting."

This news merely makes me curious to know their accuracy. If they got like an A+ in guessing correctly, that surely would say something powerful about gender differences.
