45 makes false claims about immigrants yet again

Trump re-ups his dangerous anti-immigrant rhetoric on the campaign trail in Mississippi

President Donald Trump has long been outspoken in his rhetoric against immigrants. During a rally to support Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith in Biloxi, Mississippi, Trump claimed that the migrant caravan was filled with potential criminals and even gang members.

According to The Guardian, the president not only urged migrants to return home, but blamed Democrats for the current situation at the U.S. border. Trump claimed that the Democratic party supports the caravan as a political means of taking jobs away from Americans and ruining the healthcare system. Following the rally, he also defended the use of tear gas on peaceful migrant protesters at the border.

Although the rally’s audience mostly focused on the words of Trump, Hyde-Smith also spoke on her support for the agenda of the President. Her campaign has been followed by racial controversies as well as a lawsuit filed regarding the voting process in the state. The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law has requested for an extension of the absentee ballot deadline, claiming that voters had little time to complete the ballots for the run-off election during the recent holiday.

Nonetheless attendees showed strong support for Trump’s agenda, one stating, “He’s just telling it like it is.”
