In response to a horrific flier distributed in the UK declaring April 3rd "Punish a Muslim Day," a Muslim member of Britain's parliament created a #LoveAMuslim day flier that included points for acts of kindness.
Activists at MPowerChange led by Linda Sarsour helped make the counter-narrative go viral. Sarsour put out a call to allies and friends of Muslims to overwhelm the Islamophobic messages.
"Send some love to a Muslim friend, colleague or to the Muslim community at large," Sarsour wrote to followers. "Let’s drive out hate with love."
People responded to the call. By midday, #LoveAMuslim was trending on Twitter. Here's a round up of some of our favorite messages of love and support.
