#WeThePeople interviewed Texan school teacher Adrienne Bell.

Adrienne Bell on Education and High-stakes testing; the For-Profit criminal justice system; Unions ; Single Payer ...

On January 15th, 2018 #WeThePeople met Adrienne Bell who is running for Congress in Texas, in the 14th District. She is a school teacher, who left her job to work on this campaign. Adrienne worked for years before her teaching career in the business world. "We are a country at peace, so we need to get out of the mind-set of getting into unnecessary wars..." Take (money) from the military budget – she says. "Why don't we be really patriotic and invest in the education of our children?" Adrienne is for free public higher-education, against high-stakes testing, and in general for strengthening the public education system. She would like to see an end to the for-profit criminal justice system; the minimum wage raised; strong unions and collective bargaining; the legalization of cannabis and a Single Payer healthcare plan such as Medicare for All. People just want to take care of their families! There is - Adrienne says, a real need to turn out the vote in Texas, which it seems is far more blue than people realize. So anyone who can donate or volunteer is very welcome. Great music and loved that group photo at the end too. Good luck on November 6th, 2018 Adrienne Bell!
