President Trump delivered the first of his State of the Union addresses to Congress and the Nation tonight from the Chamber of the House of Representatives. We saw the President lay out his vision for the next year for America as well as recognize some truly brave and wonderful people from the motherland as well as abroad. Some of his goals are conservative goals, some of his goals fall on the liberal side of the aisle, but there were many times that he called on a bipartisan compromise to resolve issues that Americans face on a daily basis.
What stood out the most in this speech, however, wasn’t the words of the President, but the actions of the Democrats. Tonight, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer led their party beyond their traditional anti-Trump obstructionist position into a full blown anti-American platform that was painful to watch. Someone needs to go check their seats in the House to be sure someone didn’t plant super glue there before they sat down.
POTUS touted the lowest Black unemployment rate in the history of America and the Democrats wouldn’t move. He went on to point out the lowest Hispanic unemployment rate in our history, with identical response. What the Democratic party told us tonight is that they don’t care for the Black people or the Hispanic people beyond the vote that they are worth.
In case you don’t believe it, look at this little clip below (click link in tweet) of West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, who apparently liked what he heard from the President at one point and started to stand in applause, until his handlers Pelosi and Schumer told him what he should be doing. Manchin quickly returned to his seat and halted his applause.
While there were many other notable moments in the hour and 20-minute speech, there was none greater than when President Trump told the story of Ji Seong-ho, a defector from the brutal dictatorial regime of North Korea. Seong-ho escaped North Korea on crutches after being tortured when he returned from a trip in China. A double amputee, he now has devoted his life to helping others escape the terrible conditions inside Kim Jong-Un’s communistic country. Seong-ho keeps the crutches he used to escape to freedom as a reminder of how far he has come.
If that doesn’t tug at your heart strings, you may want to see a Cardiologist and be sure you still have one.
POTUS ended his speech with words of encouragement, affirmation, and confidence in our beautiful country. It is with these words that I leave you with:
As long as we have confidence in our values, faith in our citizens, and trust in our God, we will not fail. Our families will thrive. Our people will prosper. And our Nation will forever be safe and strong and proud and mighty and free.
Thank you, and God bless America.
